SEX THERAPY (Psychosexual Therapy)
Sexual difficulties are common, but they can also be some of the hardest things to talk about. Feelings of shame or fear of judgement mean many people delay seeking support. I work with adults of all genders experiencing difficulties with desire, intimacy, sexual function and pain.
What I Work With
• Erectile difficulties
• Premature or delayed ejaculation
• Vaginismus
• Painful sex
• Low or mismatched desire
• Compulsive sexual behaviour or difficulty controlling porn use (often referred to as “porn addiction” or “sex addiction”)
• Sexual confidence, shame & body image
• Relationship & intimacy difficulties connected to sex
• Distress around sexuality
How I Work
Some sexual difficulties have physical or medical components alongside psychological and relational factors. My work focuses on understanding how thoughts, emotions, past experiences, relationship dynamics and life circumstances contribute to the difficulties you’re experiencing.
Where there are indications that a physical or medical condition may be contributing - for example, hormonal or vascular causes of erection difficulties - you will be appropriately signposted for further assessment, and where appropriate, medical treatment.
Working with Partners
Where appropriate, partners can also be invited to attend sessions where this would support the therapeutic work. This will always be discussed and agreed collaboratively, depending on your goals and the nature of the difficulties you’re experiencing.
